DVD:RIP |
|
Ok I was looking for a DVD ripping program and came across DVD:RIP
it looked very promising. The main program was small just a few MB, But then it had a MEGAPACK addon, so I said to myself "Self why not" So I downloaded it. extracted the MEGAPACK was over 130MB, wow and so I had to open each package and basically make a pet package to install it, Well a few hours later, I managed to trim away 30MB in just text documents. Which was nice
then I ran the package, It have over 20 pages, yes 20 pages of missing dependencies / system links I had to make 136 of them. So then I spent the next 6hrs making all the missing system links and finding the dependencies. Then I thought to myself"I Can't wait this is going to be good"
So i clicked the menu link and nothing, Then I ran it in console and I got a perl error, So I installed the matching perl update, and still gives me the same response, I don't know nothing really about perl, so i took some screen shots and basically uploaded all my hard work. If someone wanted to continue off and basically work it out. it would be great. Plus all those MEGAPACK Packages would be a excellent resource for people are into dvd ripping
next I'll show you the error and the package list plus all 3 pet-packages that i talked about.

No offense but, have you tested this on any current DVD. The new DVD copy protection schemes are not that easy to rip. Anything published and released in the past 2.5 years have some very heavy protection. I noticed that one of the packages are “Lame”. That is an audio decoder and has nothing to do with ripping a dvd, including dvd audio extraction, odd?

I'm sure I can get it going but I don't think you'll need as much stuff as you've made packages of. I did make a dotpup of an older version quite a while ago and posted it in the forums (over a year ago so try a google search). I'm kind of busy for the next couple of days but then I can probably make a package out of it. As far as ripping recent dvds, as long as you have libdvdcss installed you should be able to decrypt most any dvds. I've never had a problem and have ripped recent dvds w/o any issues. If you want a simple rip/shrink/author/burn program you can try my new gtkdialog app @

It would be great if you could get it going:) The Megapack I uploaded was the latest Slackware 12 package for DvDRip, well the way its put together it should work on any puppy version2-3. So basically it came with all those packages for some reason, So it should be interesting how it all fits together:)
thanks for helping

What the error message is telling you is that you need the lib.pm perl module in one of those perl paths. You can use the CPAN website to get perl modules.
http://search.cpan.org/
Here's a link to the lib.pm script:
http://www.koders.com/perl/fid5D640A2606823C98B8DDD9234DBD6B112FDFAA3D.aspx
Give that a try and see if you can get it running.
