Jeffrey
I see it's been awhile since you posted this. I'm curious to know if you resolved it. I've been using Churchpup 3.01 without trouble for over a year, been waiting to see which LW might appear.
Hope we get more activity on this forum, very interested in keeping it alive.

Hi Yes its very much alive, but its work in progress, What happened was When I made living water 4 series was just taking hold, I never like the way that Firefox 2 series worked on puppy 4 and then Firefox 3 came out and it was a lot worse Shocked , and I wanted a updated puppy version that could handle the latest Firefox, well that only really happened when Dpup came to life, but then Dpup was and is in early Alpha and the kernel needs recompiling for other users who can use Jpup just fine but kernel faults on Dpup, grrrr, So I've been waiting for Barry to recompile Dpup's kernel so I can get going on Dpup fpr the next Living Water/Fire Hydrant release, So to kill time I took up rebuilding 2.14X which we will be at the 7th release sometime this week, I have Firefox 3.5 and flash 10 working perfect on 2.14X I might even go as far once as the bugs are out of 2.14X to make a quick Living water release for older Pc's on it, and then move over to Dpup and make a completely new release Smile Since the 2.17 version if I'm correct was stuck on US keyboard, We've fixed issues like that on 2.14X So it should even be better Smile
how's that sound?

Thanks for the question, pudgypup.
I gave up trying to get Living Water to work due to the difficulty I experienced in saving the session. My memory's poor, but I now have Bible Desktop installed and working fine on my normal Puppy Linux 4.1.2 frugal installation. I think that I simply copied the files from the LW ISO, put the executable script in my-applications/bin, added a desktop icon, downloaded some Bibles, and it worked pretty easily. The only problem I experienced was a couple of failure messages at start-up time (relating to the installed Bibles), but I fixed those somehow (probably by editing the BD configuration file). Sorry I'm a bit hazy - my memory is like a sieve. The BD application is great - I have ESV and KJV, and the KJV includes Strong's Hebrew & Greek lexicon word numbers so that when Boaz calls to the kinsman-redeemer in Ruth 4:1 I can see that "Turn aside friend" in the ESV is "Ho, such a one, turn aside" in the KJV and the Hebrew is "peloni almoni" (from my rusty memory since I don't have BD open at present) which means "such a one" (good for the KJV) or "so and so". A contemporary equivalent in Glasgow would be "Hey you Jimmy". So "friend" is a fairly polite translation. Oh what a tool for someone like me who doesn't speak Hebrew or Greek.
Anyway, if someone wants instructions on how to copy the files to hard disk etc, try it out and if you have trouble, post a request and I'll be glad to help.

I attempted a couple of the 4.1 pups, then fled screaming back to 3.01. My work box is an XP pc from 5 or 6 years ago, and the 4s just overwhelmed it.

Glad you're still bringing the LW distro along ttuuxxx. I'd go to your website, but procon latte seems to think you're a porn site and won't let me whitelist you. Next time I'm on XP or on Mint at home I'll look you up.

I do use Bible Desktop myself a lot, along with NET Bible. I haven't tried to get esword to work on Puppy yet. It's still far and away the best Bible program I've ever seen, I just don't want to put wine on my Puppy. Maybe someday.

It is amazing the philosophies that attempt to tie themselves to the great ship of Truth that is the genuine Christian faith.

QUESTION: Has anyone used the Linux alternative to the MS-dependent app MediaShout called Lyricue?

We are looking for a split-screen app that allows the op to prepare what is to be displayed on our video projector on his laptop display and only what he/she drags to the second window (best if that is displayed on a separate external LCD display rather than half or part of his/her laptop display) is actually sent to the projector.

Hi edoc go to the sourcesforge website and do a search for things like , religion, bible, god, faith and you'll come across a couple of apps for that I seen last year.
Post the links here and I'll see what I can do. Smile

Hello ttuuxxx

Someone in another thread was trying to get hold of a copy of this particular Puppy,
but i noticed that both of the following directories are empty:
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/livingwater/livingwater2.17FireFox/
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/livingwater/livingwater2.17opera/

And as i had a copy of the firefox version, i have uploaded it here:
livingwater-217-firefox.iso
livingwater-217-firefox.iso.md5.txt

I renamed it from puppy-217-remaster.iso
to livingwater-217-firefox.iso just so it is more descriptive of what it actually is.

I hope you don't mind.

CatDude

I am testing a new laptop (Compaq Presario CQ62). Living Water 2.17 is the only Puppy that will run on it. Unfortunately, I can get the wireless to work. It simply doesn't see the built in wireless. Of course I am using an earlier version of Living Water. Does the most recent version work well on a 64 bit system?
