"Living Water 2.17" by ttuuxxx |
|
"Living Water" is basically a church related 2.17 puppy Variant that I have spent a very long time making, The Opera version is 139MB and Firefox 145MB respectfully, including java and a host of other apps plus some system files have been updated. The reason I made this version is because members of the "Church Pup" Forum have been asking for a lite version so I stepped up to the plate. I'll finish the full release description tomorrow, Its 3:44 am here
"Living Water 2.17" Firefox ed.

I did update the wifi with the 3.0 series but some cards reported didn't work with that one but did work with the 2.0 series so you can downgrade if you have that problem by installing http://www.puppylinux.ca/pet2/ndiswrapper-1.46.pet

I think "Living Water" is a great name.
At the moment I am practicing Buddhism
(a form of Christianity devoid of Jesus or even God)
I feel Puppy is an ideal carrier for interest specific remasterings.

This is excellent - I've tested FH and Fat-free before and I really appreciate your work.
I may be late in the discussion of ChurchPup, so I could not explain at once the symbol in the Menu button. Would you have some notes about it? (My first view reminded me about Lobster's friends )

The Symbol you see on a lot of cars, but here is the wikipedia view on it,
Ichthys (Greek: ἰχθύς, capitalized ΙΧΘΥΣ; also transliterated and Latinized as ichthys, icthus, ichthus or ikhthus; ichthus), is the Ancient and Classical Greek word for "fish." In English it refers to a symbol consisting of two intersecting arcs, the ends of the right side extending beyond the meeting point so as to resemble the profile of a fish, said to have been used by early Christians as a secret symbol and now known colloquially as the "Jesus fish" and (to a lesser extent) the "holy mackerel[citation needed]." Greek ἰχθύς is an acronym (or backronym) of Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Saviour."

Very nice as usual your work is fantastic its very fast clean and lots of graphic detail. I love ttuuxxxtv that is too cool and stream tuner as well. But most of all the faith menu is a sweet touch nicely configured. I have enjoyed your previous versions so I was really looking forward to this edition. It was no surprise to find it full of ttuuxxxness. Thanks again I know you must have spent many hours of this edition and it is a pleasure for me to enjoy your fine work. This is a winner folks help spread the news.

Never heard this before.
The intersecting arcs was done
like so (when Christianity was considered a fishy religion
punishable by becoming lion fodder):
One person would casually doodle an arc on the tavern table
or in the dirt with someone they wished to test
If the arc was turned into a fish, they were Christian
(by the second person drawing a second arc)
Maybe it was from this miracle (Even God pays taxes - 'Holy Mackerel')?
Matthew 17:24-27
You can see the symbol explored on my defunct
Christian page which I have resurrected
http://tinyurl.com/ypmlx6
Anyway . . .
good that your efforts are creating interest

thanks so much for all of your hard work ttuuxxx. I've just begun the d/l, so should have some good operational feedback over the next day or so. how much difference do you think I'll get performance wise with full-install vs frugal? my system has 194MB if I remember rightly. Full installs have crashed in the past on this particular pc, whereas frugal installs are rock solid, albeit slow. also I tried fat free the other day on it, with goggle, but it didn't play. are there any dependancies that aren't mentioned? or does goggle perhaps need s/w decoder installed? (guessing). Either way - thanks heaps.

well no need to worry, goggles works just fine in "Living Water 2.17" if you wanted to try it on the computer i would run it via command line and it will tell you whats missing, when i made the package it was for 3.0 series I think it had 1 or 2 dependencies missing for the 2.0 series.
Well I would try the full install first and if you run into problems just tell me what happened and i'll try to find you a fix.

Hi Lobster - I have to take exception to your calling Buddhism a "form of Christianity devoid of Jesus or even God". Saying that Buddhism is a type of Christianity is like saying eating herbivovous animals is a form of vegetarianism! Both vegetarianism and animal-eating are forms of eating, but one cannot be the same as the other. Christianity is so called because it is a following of the God-man Yeshua (aka Jesus), who was called the Christ. Perhaps this was just your humour? A Christless Christianity is oxymoronic. For the record, Yeshua (Jesus) claimed to be THE Way, THE Truth, THE Life, and that there was no other way to His Father God, but through Himself. This makes the embracing of Christianity mutually exclusive from accepting alternate religeons and spiritual activity. (Sorry for hijacking your thread ttuuxxx!) Not trying to pick a fight at all here Lobster... some of my best friends are crustaceans lol, just interested in setting things straight. (PS ttuuxxx, still 4 hours to go to complete the d/l! was struggling to use bibledesktop tonight, so really looking forward to the upgrade!)

As a fish eater, I am pleased to know I am classed as a vegetarian.
You should of course take your Lobster with a pinch of salt (and a squeeze of lemon)
It would be equally possible to say MS Windows is a type of Puppy Linux that does not use Linux or any Open Source code.
It might be possible to say something. That does not mean it makes sense or has any value. You have to strike a balance.
I would suggest that apart from the elements I have removed, the ethical and moral moderation in Christianity is very familiar to Buddhists in the 8 Fold Path.
That exception is taken by some is not so exceptional. That others have created an exceptional testament is the issue here and that is to be encouraged.
