Pdvdrsab-0.1 - a gtkdialog dvd rip/shrink/author/burn gui

Here's a script I just finished up. I said one day I'd re-write Pupdvdtool so here it is.

You can run a crippled version of this program with just disk ripping abilities if you have the bare minimum of programs installed:

gtkdialog(3)
vobcopy

If you want all the other functions you'll need:
vamps
dvdauthor (the patched version)
growisofs
ffmpeg

ffmpeg is just used for some various checks throughout the program and for re-encoding pcm audio to ac3 (if you want to).

Here's a pic if you select the rip function

If you select the rip funtion, you can check the shrink, author, & burn checkboxes and all of the steps will run without any interaction unless if there's a problem. If there's a problem there are various popups and options for fixes. If the burn checkbox is selected, when authoring is done the original dvd will be ejected and you can place your blank dvd in the same drive. As of now a different drive isn't supported.

Hi plinej,
just a quick question, does it remove rpc-region protection & unscramble the video ?
.
BTW autor is probally a slip-up , author ;)
.

Not sure, give it a try and find out. It just uses vobcopy to decrypt & rip.

i just tried it out on 300, and everything worked great except the end of the movie was cut off. Is this just because it's a newer DVD, or did I mess something up?

Good question, but unfortunately I can't answer. I've used it to rip a handful of movies and it worked fine. I'm really not that into ripping dvds. I'm way more into music than movies.

Did you make a mirror copy or did you just rip the title with the most chapters? Maybe the movie spread across 2 titles? I don't think it should do that but who knows.

I somehow missed this thread, until now. We need to get this going in Puppy4. It's not really much extra to add, and it sure would round out Puppy4 as a complete multimedia solution!

Great! Pburn 1.6.0 can burn video-DVD and needs dvdauthor as well.

Jason,
what's the latest situation on dvdauthor? You had a patched version, but that was awhile ago, so does the latest version of dvdauthor need patching? ...I don't recall why it was patched.

Ah, I just found Jason's latest post on dvdauthor:

...ok, I'll put that into Puppy4.

partial burn

I burned the title with the most chapters when it got cut short. I tried it with a different dvd (also new), and had the exact same result: the rip is perfect for the first 56 minutes, and then ends. The reason I wanted to rip the dvd in the first place was to have it in one playable file.

I haven't had that issue so I can't really comment on it. Anyone else have problems? I'll try a ripping a new dvd tonight to see if it works for me.

Just to check the obvious, do you have the available space wherever you're trying to save the file at?

I have lots of extra space on the external drive I'm saving to. Both movies were named xxx.vob.partial when they finished ripping. I tried it with and without shrinking the file.

I was just wondering, does this work the same way DVD Shrink does?

Are you talking about the Windows program? If you are than I'm not sure since I haven't used Windows in several years. This program is a simple gui front end for vobcopy (dvd ripping/decrypting), vamps (mpeg shrinking), dvdauthor (authoring a mpeg to a dvd file structure), & growisofs (burning the file structure).

Wait which one is more recent? This one or this one: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=15775 ?
