Network interfaces not found

#1 Post by chesstrain »

Hi there,

after installing Muppy 008 on hd, the network wizard couldn´t see any active network interfaces.

The live installation works fine on the same hardware, the wizard finds eth0 and even eth1 (?), the usb-wlan stick.

What is wrong with my hd-installation?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regards

Hans

Check the output of lsmod for the live-cd, and compare this with lsmod for your hard-disk install. Maybe the required modules aren't being loaded? Is it a frugal, or full, hdisk install?

If the latter, drivers from the zdrv_xxx.sfs file need to be manually extracted to their correct location.

Hi chesstrain,
I had the same problem, I suggest you wipe
the h/d and do a re part with a GNOME live cd gpart editor got a d/l
and I burnt one, I got myself started in the early days because
I had a lot of trouble with poor d/ls' of puppy.

I suggest you setup a small part of about 25mb as a hda1, the
operating sys on h/d hda2 and a linux swap part of about 256mb
this would be hda3.

After that you can start you trials of the versions of puppy you
might like. I suggest you take the latest MUPPY 008-2 a more
upto date version.
MUPPY HAS TO BE LOADED ONTO HARD DRIVE AS A - " FRUGAL"
follow the install thro' again. It does detect lan cards and
wireless etc.!

Regarding to reboot you will have to edit the " GRUB " menu.

Well thats another story!

Hi

Had the same problem and did what I said in my last post and did work for me. All I did was copy copy all the LIB folder from the CD Live onto the hard drive and all work fine after a reboot.

try it again should work.

Cheers
