puppy 3.0 and lmsensors problem

Used Crafty's instructions to get lmsensors and GKrellm working in Puppy 2.17 with no problems.
Have just tried the same procedure with Puppy 3.0 (on the same machine) and it does not work, it crashes when I "modprobe it87"
For a test I reran Puppy 2.17 and "modprobe it87" works fine. I presume it87 is available in the kernel used for 2.17, but is not in the 3.0 kernel. Question is how do I make it available for Puppy 3.0? Or is there something else I can do?
