First of all I have to admit, this is not a specific Puppy-Linux problem - it appears on ubuntu aswell.
When I start my PC in (Puppy)-Linux, all speakers of my 5.1-System are gently humming all the time until I turn off the PC. The humming stops, when another sound operation is startet. After the sound operation, the humming starts again.
In Ubuntu I tried a lot of different mixer settings, so I don't think it has anything to do with turning some mixer regulators up or down.
In WinXP the humming also is there in the boot process. But after a short while (often attended by a cracking noise) the humming stops again.
Has anybody an idea where this humming comes from and how it could be stopped?
I use a a7n8x-Deluxe-Mainboard with nforce2 onboard sound.
Thank you!
