How to enable the use of the magnet tool in Wings3d

#1 Post by CatDude »

Hi folks

Recently whilst playing around with Wings3d, i needed to use the magnet tool (Alt + click)
needless to say it did not work, so i went googlin for an answer, to no avail. :(

I tried god knows how many different things to get this to work, and very nearly gave up
but today i have actually found a combination that works (well, at least on this computer). :D

So for anybody that is using Wings3d and IceWM,
here is what works for me, hopefully it will work for you too.
  • Menu > Setup > Mouse/keyboard Wizard > Advanced Xorg keyboard configuration

    On the Main Tab:
    Keyboard Model > pc104..........Generic 104-key PC

    On the Options Tab:
Alt/Win key behaviour > altwin:super_win..........Super is mapped to the Win-keys (default).
Now, with this setup, whenever the option you require say's Alt click (or Alt + R)
you need to press BOTH the LEFT Win and Alt keys simultaneously (both at the same time)

For those who are using JWM as their window manager,
sorry but you will have to figure it out for yourselves, as i was not able to find a setup that would work.

I hope this saves someone the frustration that i went through trying to figure this out.

The versions i am using, just in case it makes a difference
are:
  • Puppy-4.00 remaster
IceWM (not entirely sure, in /root/.icewm/preferences ...........there is mention of (1.2.14)
    Wings3d Latest Stable Release: 0.99.04a
