vulcan: OpenGL chess game

#1 Post by muggins »

http://www.fzort.org/mpr/projects/vulcan/

This game requires OpenGL libraries. Also, if you've got a slow microprocessor &/or small RAM, be prepared to wait for the next move! If you've got any queries about how to play, see here:

To start, enter vulcan in a console.

This game still compiles nicely. The original homepage is offline, but I tracked down the sourcecode.

Vulcan-0.92 source
https://app.box.com/s/shyqjdtglgd7u0ii4pcyyzjcl8adi1eb

It compiles in Fatdog 64 (I used 621)
Vulcan-0.92-x86_64
https://app.box.com/s/q3xdknjskz2c89c46ct6olsu19z7058k

Note I haven't tested it on a clean install yet - It may need a symlink from usr/share/vulcan to /usr/local/share/vulcan if it gives you trouble.

"It has a one-color background. 6.5/10" -IGN

(If you don't get the joke/reference: IGN has a stupid rating system and games tend to get a lower score for small things; It's a thing now a days to make fun of IGN's rating system.)
