Wrong module loaded for ethernet port pro/100

#1 Post by Béèm »

Following is the hw info from Puppy hw-interfaces
DESCRIPTION: Intel Corporation 82801DB PRO/100 VE (MOB) Ethernet Controller
VENDOR: 8086 DEVICE: 103d KERNEL MODULE: eepro100
Normally the e100 should be loaded and not the epro100.
I know this as in Puppy 3.01 this is the case.

Something wrong in the detection script?
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

In 3.01 this is the info:
from hw info wrote:DESCRIPTION: Intel Corporation 82801DB PRO/100 VE (MOB) Ethernet Controller

I did some googling, but the info from Intel isn't very clear.
What I understood more or less that e100 is to be used.
People reported problems when using the eepro100 on the above referenced adapter.

Is there other info I can supply?
