Subject description: For a Digital Photo Frame project

I'm trying to build a small Puppy with support for frame buffers. There are a lot of historical notes on this topic in this group, but no one has actually said that they have built one.

Does a newish frame buffer Puppy exist? Anyone want to build one?

I'm running off of a USB stick and it would difficult to make the kernel myself.

FYI, ultimately, this is for a Digital Photo Frame project using the FlickrFrame sources. It works OK in X, but it will be a lot smoother and easier running from a console and displaying the pics in the frame buffer.

Thanks.

Puppy has the framebuffer compiled into the kernel, but not the fbcon module. Meaning you can boot with 'vga=xxx' to use the frame buffer, but all console text will be invisible (but framebuffer-based apps will display fine). It's not hard to compile the fbcon kernel module, or you could extract it from my Pebble package (but only for 2.6.21.7 kernel puppies). Or you could just skip it, since everything will still run fine.

(This isn't the same as a framebuffer-based Xwindows system. That's a topic that came up recently, or I wouldn't be mentioning it.)
