asus eee

#1 Post by T_B »

I am planning to buy an asus Eee, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASUS_Eee_PC

Looks like a fantastic small laptop and could be superb in combination with puppy linux. How well will the Eee be supported by Puppy?

There have been a few discussions about this (in fact, I am planning on getting one as a note taking machine for class) and the consensus seems to be that it should run fine. It comes with a version of Xandros (well, you could pay more for the Windows variant, but why?) so it should have Linux friendly components. It might take some experimentation to figure out the best installation method for the solid state HD. I think it should probably be installed as a flash drive so that Puppy limits the number of times it writes to the HD. This would increase its lifespan considerably. If you get one first, let me know how it goes.
