Hi i've managed to install the latest java from sun on puppy 3.01
and it works fine with firefox and sea monkey, but the problem i've been having is that i can't start any java dependent applications, like frostwire or limewire, etc, any ideas how to configure this? I've read other post on other sites and they also seam to have this problem? Should i just go back to java 1.5.? Its nice that it works in firefox and seamonkey, but is that enough? I think not, maybe someone could make a pet or pup package that actually works, thanks for your time ttuuxxx

Thanks Wolf Pup but I have no joy with links in limewire. I have tried them in several directories and still get the following.

Code:
# ./runLime.sh
Starting LimeWire...
Java exec not found in PATH, starting auto-search...
ls: cannot access /usr/lib/j*: No such file or directory
./runLime.sh: line 44: tac: command not found
OOPS, unable to locate java exec in  /usr/lib/  hierarchy
You need to upgrade to JRE 1.4.x or newer from http://www.java.com
./runLime.sh: line 44: tac: command not found
OOPS, unable to locate java exec in  /usr/java/  hierarchy
You need to upgrade to JRE 1.4.x or newer from http://www.java.com
ls: cannot access /opt/j*: No such file or directory
./runLime.sh: line 44: tac: command not found
OOPS, unable to locate java exec in  /opt/  hierarchy
You need to upgrade to JRE 1.4.x or newer from http://www.java.com

I am thinking perhaps there is something missing in 1.6 that was in 1.5?

I do frugal installs and have the java jre.x.x.x folder saved to my c:\ drive.

I symlink the jre.x.x.x folder to /usr/lib (which is where limewire looks for it) and then I symlink the jre.x.x.x/bin/java file to /usr/local/bin.

No problems with this setup and it also saves the space in my pup_save file Very Happy
