NOP 3.01 questions

#1 Post by iamclueless »

Hi im trying this puplet after playing with 2.15 CE for a couple of weeks

i just installed today
i love the interface because the File Manager is a bit easier

however just had a couple of quick questions

1) how do i add another workspace? im adding them but i cant see them...

2) how do i edit my menu listing? i know in 2.15CE i could edit a menu file, what file am i after in this case

3) why cant i see the thumbnails/icons properly when usning the file manager? i need to actually click on an icon file and ristreto shows it to me. how to i make it so i see the preview. this is a bit annoying and would be a show stopper for me in terms of continuing with this puplet :(

4) and finally 2.15CE had a software installer that downloaded a list of pets/pups... then you could install it. is there an equivalent for NOP3.01?

thanks

workspace & menus

To add workspaces use the Settings Manager, Workspaces and Margins option.
To 'see' them you can add the pager item to the lower panel (right click on the panel to get a menu, select 'add new item' then the pager). Switch between workspaces using the pager or keyboard (Ctrl-Alt-arrowKey).

PS The online help for Xfce is pretty good.

The menus are dynamically created using the XDG method, which means each menu item is created by a file in the usr/share/applications directory. Delete a file to remove a menu item (or edit the file to add a line telling it not to display: NoDisplay=true). Add a file with the desired category to add a menu item - see files already there for info.
