I would like permission from you and the puppy community to link to your site and/or use specific links from puppylinux.org . The puppy community is very welcome to link to me.

I emailed Barry with my project info but have had no reply (I know he's very busy)....I hope he approves of my project as it is very important to me to have permissions from Barry. The Puppy community can be assured I will try and maintain a web site that is up to Puppy standards.

puppylinux.ca has 300gb of space with 3tb of monthly bandwidth and the speeds seem fine ( tell MU as we spoke before on this matter).

Please consider my site as a positive addition to the Puppy community as it is meant to be a site for us in North America to have access from our side of the pond ;).

Another email from Eric
Hi Ed,

Thanks for your post on the forum...it's bringing in lots of hits from all over the world.

My server space is, as I've said, 300gb with 3tb of bandwidth.

The web site is starting to come together...so if the Puppy community has a specific need at this moment or for the future, puppylinux.ca will be able to host.

My host is full featured, Linux friendly - using Linux servers. The server is NetFirms.ca out of downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Netfirm Server Software -
Wordpress
Joomla
MediaWiki
SSH
Picture Pro photo galleries
phpBB Discussion forums
E-Store with Commerce Pro
MySQL - 60 databases available
scripting languages (PHP, Pearl, Ruby on Rails, Python)
SSL Certificate available,
Cron-jobs are supported
CGI bin
rSynch supported
FTP accounts
unlimited email
ASP.NET available
AutoIndex program available (haven't learned that one yet)
A few more domain names available.

....last March we talked about using my project as space for the wiki...I don't know how to admin those things, but the wiki and any other requirements that Puppy Linux may need are welcome to be parked/hosted on puppylinux.ca.

My local upload speed is painfully slow....and I'm possibly running into bandwidth problems with my local isp...therefore someone with rsync knowledge would be a great help, although my local bandwidth usage will drop soon, once I have finished populating the server.

So please consider puppylinux.ca available for the needs of the whole community. I've got the space now, so let's use it to enhance the puppy project.
Many thanks Eric - please post here rather than gmailing me :)
Did you get sponsorship for this server space or are you financing it?

Hi Lobster and the community

I am funding this on my own.

There is lots of work to do but I'm starting to get some content up.

I'm also having great fun with this..the learning curve for me is off the scale but it is coming along.

I've been getting 106 hits nearly every day by 11.00 am..so thanks for your post...it made my hits jump lots.

I'll keep you up to date....if I can get past that darn spam filter with those weird letters...:)

From Rick Smith:
I have been unable to download various puppy derivatives (specifically Teenpup) from several mirrors, e.g. http://pkagfiles.net
So maybe you can get started with the bigger derivatives. BIG thanks to you!

I just uploaded v3.0 retro...I was having trouble getting any kind of speed from Ibiblio..but now it's up.

Ok I'll get on it.....I'm kind of working from the newest to the older ones.

Hope everyone enjoys the new resource.

I think I have resolved the issue with my local ISP...so my uploads should be better and local bandwith usage should not invoke their fair usage policy (I hope).

I am also having a problem with TeenPup...I can't seem to get a complete download from puppyisos.org...will keep at it.

TeenPup is at http://www.puppylinux.ca/puppyfiles/custom/

All Puppy derivatives will be there. I hope it is all correct as I had a hard time getting them as complete .iso's

Hi Caneri

Many thanks for setting up the new download locations, its something that is sorely needed for the puppy community and a great way of giving back.

Would there be space/bandwidth on your site to host ecopup? Weve had big problems with it putting our servage account over its limit which shuts down our main websites and also the ones for the other local organizations which we host for. Its a heavyweight at 674mb (a full iso). Currently we have our own servage servers (in Germany I believe) and have recently been very kindly mirrored by the Central Queensland University for Australian downloaders. It would be great to have a mirror on your continent too.

If you havnt read about ecopup you can here and here.

Many thanks

ecomoney and Lobster,

Thanks for offering to upload to me..I've been trying to get both iso's for a while now but only get partial files and it quits.

I will setup ftp accounts for any person that has a derivative...it will be a secure spot just for the developer and it will be great on keeping me current...thanks

email me or pm with email addresses to get a ftp account...
