Hello everyone. I love this website here:

I can use it to obtain free sheet music. However, I can only use it in my Windows XP, because it requires a "Sibelius Scorch" active X control plug-in available here:

that only works in Windows. They do not make a version for Linux.

Is there a Scorch plugin for Puppy Linux anywhere? Or, anything that will enable me to view those musical scores in Puppy?

Also, to hear midi files on that website, I need a midi plugin for Puppy. Does anyone know where I could get one?

I don't know about ActiveX in Linux (it's one of those proprietary MS things, and also a big security problem from what I understand). But for MIDI, you'll want to either check out Timidity, or Jack/qctrl. Timidity is simpler to set up (it's available through PETget). Jack/Qctrl lets you set up an Alsa server or some such thing, which facilitates some of the fancier features in certain audio programs. It doesn't have a frontend for playing MIDI though, so you'd need to configure another audio program to connect to the server and play them, which I know nothing about. It might lead to a more compact and simple setup in the end though, since you could theoretically listen to everything through a single media player.

Timidity is does offer that server feature, but the version packaged for Puppy wasn't compiled with it, so you'd have to recompile it.

Anyway, I will check it out and see what I can do with it.

Ummm... it looks like those Mozilla Active X controls are .exe files... so they install in Windows, but not in Linux.

Am I missing something?

I don't seem to find the link for the linux version I will look back through my backups I would recommend the ies4linux project
as I use it with muppy 007 and have great results or the wine opera package at any rate here here is a link

In truth, this may be over my head. Although I am an A+ Certified PC repair tech, I am fairly new to Linux, and it is confusing. However, I will look in to it and see what I can do.
