webcam Quickcam 5000 Pro , uvcvideo driver Subject description: howto install uvcvideo driver ?
Everything in the title and subject.
I got a Qc pro 5000 webcam and want to use it with puppy linux 217 RUNNING on a USB KEY
I got the sources of uvcvideo ( there :
http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/linux-uvc/linux-uvc/trunk/ ) but cannot compile it : make returns :
Building USB Video Class driver...
/bin/sh: line 0: cd: /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build: No such file or directory
make: *** [uvcvideo] Error 1
which seems normal as there is no build directory ( ? )
Nor I could find how to install a pre-compiled one...

I assume you are using the devx_217.sfs to get make running? In that case, my guess would be that you need the kernel sources. Sounds reasonable for a driver, they often do. You can find them here. Use in the same way as devx_217.sfs
Perfect.
I compiled and installed.
couldn't test it though because the application ( uvcwiew) requires GLIBC_2.4.
I searched around and couldn't find something clear enough to add it.
I post a topic about this in beginners forum.
