Is it best to upgrade to this or to the latest version? Subject description: Or to stick to the older 1.5.0.3? |
|
Wondered what the advantages or disadvantages of this version were compared to the latest firefox or the earlier 1.5.0.3 one. Security? Resource usage? Facility?
I'm currently using 1.5.0.3 because I system isn't very powerful and I'm assuming the old Firefox consumes less-resources. 1.5.0.3 works fine so far.

Firefox 2.0.0.7 release notes and system requirements. When done reading those, Google "JFGI," "GIYF," and "DIY."

so useful |

That was very useful information, thanks. Could say much the same about almost everything on the forum really. I'll keep that in mind... It is very easy to make "smart comments" isn't it; kind of sad in terms of wit though.
But yes, I recognise now that 2.0.0.7 is indeed the latest one. I was a bit busy from working on other things for puppy linux, and rather over-tired.
Thankyou for the dotpet Todd, that will be very useful.

One excellent feature of Firefox is 'update' under 'help'
If starting out with Firefox then the latest from Todd is most welcome.
Thanks Todd.

Thanks
This version seems to run good on 2.17.1, and loads far faster than seamonkey.
There are missing dependencies but it still works without these libs.
These dependencies required by firefox-2.0.0.7 package are missing:
File /usr/local/firefox/components/libnkgnomevfs.so has these missing library files:
libgnomevfs-2.so.0 libbonobo-activation.so.4
File /usr/local/firefox/components/libmozgnome.so has these missing library files:
libgconf-2.so.4 libgnomevfs-2.so.0 libbonobo-activation.so.4 libgnome-2.so.0 libbonobo-2.so.0
