I have tried the pupget java install for version 2.14 and it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know which version of java should be used with the libraries and kernel for 2.14?

you can use the self-extracting file, of whatever the latest version is on the sun site, from here:

Thanks Muggins, I have a feeling this is the latest jre and may have to run it on pup2.17 that has the updated kernel & libraries.
