Just installed Puppy 2.17 on a Compaq Armada M300 with a WG511T wireless adapter.
At first I tried autodetecting the WG511T, and I think thats where I picked up 3c59x & 8139cp. Obviously those didnt work. Eventually figured out that ath_pci does work for the WG511T. I can set it up and it connects to net...
But anytime I restart the computer, I have to reload the ath_pci driver manually, and setup the wireless card (altho it remembers the wifi network settings).
Perhaps related, perhaps not....I tried removing the 3c59x & 8139cp drivers by adding them to the blacklist, but they keep coming back...
thoughts? or either problem? could they be interrelated?

you could add some lines at the beginning of rc.network to unload the offending modules
rmmod 3c59x

underneath the previous lines just load it manually
This isn't the way that it is supposed to work and doesn't address some underlying weakness in the puppy network setup but should at least get your system working properly.
