Thanks, Lobster & Darrelljon: this is the best list I've seen yet, with detailed mention of included apps, etc. that often is lacking elsewhere. Can we make it a sticky post right at the top after scsijon's question?

@trapster: Nope. Haven't owned a television since 1997, so instead I happily listen to Sox games on the radio. I find Joe Castiglione's play-by-play to be far superior to that of his video brethren.

Any chance of adding "Most Recent Update" to the Wiki?

There are so many Puplet's, and more every week, that one needs additional ways
to filter which to visit -- a Puplet that has not been updated for more than 6mos is
probably abandoned or neglected.

First, I noticed that Fat Free is not listed on that Derivations list (unless my eyeballs are shot - a distinct possibility). It's good! And it uses the NEW kernel!

Another thing that I would find helpful with the wikki list is, to know which kernel each derivative is based on. Reason: some of the older kernels had "issues" with my SATA drives, or couldn't recognize my cordless USB mouse. If I already know that from one derivative, I can avoid others based on it or test them on a different computer.

The last suggestion is more for whoever manages the main "downloads" page. You see, I think the person making the original complaint/suggestion on this thread had the same problems I did, and still do, in locating and sorting through all those options. There is probably a "pecking order" to whose derivatives actually get listed on that page -- like Barry has to officially approve it or something -- but it would be good to get those lists (which are woefully short) and the wikki ones cross-linked better.

In principle I am in favour of a record of neglected, abandoned, defunct puplets. One persons trash is another persons gold.

Regressive Puplets - need advice on this one

A system with AMD Geode GX, 366 speed, 64meg flash in IDE, 128meg ram, lan, sound, VGA, many USB 2.0 even keyboard and mouse, what Puppies would work?
The 64meg flash board could be replaced with a very small IDE drive?
(Edit, small, non standard 40pin and power, socket under flash board?)
The 128meg ram is soldered down and even thou I did repairs like that when I worked a ram upgrade not easy but could be?

Board above has just arrived. 512meg flash drive, 256meg ram
Have not tried dingo yet but I have 2.17 on a 1gig usb memory stick setup as a super floppy and that boots right in. I put a usb floppy drive on another usb port and it does show with drives button but dont work with create wakeup floppy or format a floppy. Is this correct USB floppies dont get seen as a floppy drive for these things???????
All this has for I/O is usb?

Puppy runs slow on this thing and has no sound. Dont know what sound chip it has yet.
Trying to watch a movie on this slow board cant be done. Video jerks, jumps.
Its running in RAM so its as fast as it can go. Do any puppies run faster?
Would taking out items like movie player help speed any? Would going from 256meg ram to 512meg help?

Hallo bigbass,

why don´t you go the last step and remove Xorg? The fat free would then have only 40MB instead of 62MB! A lot of people are still waiting about of that!

I just made up a USB superfloppy memory stick with 3.96 alpha, DINGO, and it boots into the Wyse S90 just fine.

2.17 and now 3.96 runs slow on the S90, but at 1/3 the speed of my 1gig systems I guess?

Open to any ideas on what puppy would be faster or how to make puppy faster?

Right, time to post before back to study. Hopefully my entire University existence will be over in just a few short hours... last essay. What better way to spend it than procrastinating for a few more minutes on Puppy....anyway....

I've created a pupplet called TigerPup, which is still very much under development. Based on wNOP's Compiz-Fusion scripts, it's become a pupplet in it's own right. I've also added launchers and a script to utilize puppy's easy portability on usb flash drives. TigerPup is being created with the novice computer user in mind; the idea is point and click.

No thats not the main link and the whole page is kind of bias towards Tmxxine 64 lines worth
When others like rudy,teenpup, My Fire Hydrant Series & Living water, and many others are barely touched and are equally as good.

Hi Folks
which puppy would you recommend for mymodest ThinkPad770X laptop?
I saw couple of topics related to setting up the modem,I am an experienced windows users but from what I've been reading that is useless when using linux,so I would appreciated very much if you can help granny .
my laptop has 128MB ram/8GB HDD/1 partition which has windows98SE (had enough of windows ).
just need to go online email my kids and grandkids and view pictures.offline I use it for bible study and write stuff formychurch group ......and play solitaire...LOL
