Ghostview errors

#1 Post by ecomoney »

When trying to read the manual for my motherboard to set up the usb headers, I came across some very annoying bugs in the puppy pdf reader. I dont know if these have been fixed in subsequent version.

The manual that caused the faults can be downloaded from http://www.unitycorp.co.jp/support/down ... uv4x_e.pdf. It occurs in the later pages.

Ghostview chokes on a lot of pdfs for me. I downloaded the Acrobat 5 pet package (or was it a dotpup?) and it works better, but still not perfectly.

Yes Ghostview was pretty worthless, which I guess is why it was dumped from Puppy in 3.00. I too went with the old acroread which usually works.

Glad to hear its dumped for future releases. I will try some of the alternatives. Thanks for your help.

AcroReader .pet/dotpup!?

#5 Post by macadavy »

I've had the same problem with Ghostview, Xpdf worse. I went looking for a pup package for Acrobat Reader in the repositories, but no luck - could you point me to it?
Firefox has a Acrobat Reader plug-in but I blanch at installing plug-ins in Firefox, it seems they're nowhere near as trivial as installing an extension in FF, at least not for we GNU/Linux types! :?

Go down to the section of office and reading. You should find acrobat 5 there.

Thanks, hillside! I'm going to learn more about how dotpups are created with the goal in mind of making dotpups for the Firefox plug-ins I'd love to have but haven't a clue how to install... (mplayer, gxine, realplayer, acrobat, flash, java, etc.)
