TEENpup and future TEENpup's (Expected Releases)
OK re. your wife summoning you from the computer - balance is always a challenge!
Thanks re. the file you have created, will await word.
Is the Seamonkey DjVU in a version not yet available for TEENpup or can we update?
I just downloaded DjVULibre from here: http://djvu.sourceforge.net/
Getting late here and I have been up waaay too late lately so off I go. May find time to
experiment with this tomorrow - or may just wait for someone more technically competent
to provide correct instructions!

Printing from abiword
Are you using CUPS? If so read on.edoc wrote:I can print to my HP and my Samsung printers from Seamonkey but not from AbiWord,
AbiWord does not see either one - it only presents a generic printer window.
If I select the generic it prints to my HP printer connected to this computer.
How do I get AbiWord to see my Samsung printer on another computer just as Seamonkey
sees it, please?
I had a similar problem a while back when Barry first put CUPS into Puppy. His response was that he'd need to recompile Abiword to be CUPS aware.
See :- http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=20377
It worked for me in those days but I haven't tried recently.
Hope this helps.

Hello edoc,
It's DjVu install time!
First I have to warn you it's a 4mb install.
What I've done is zip the required packages into 2 tar.gz so they can be uploaded here.
I also made the correct menu file so that as long as you place all the required files in their correct folders, when you navigate to /usr/sbin and in console type ./fixmenus DjVu will appear in the menu ready to use.
So all you have to do is unzip the 2 tar.gz files and copy for example /usr/bin/djview3 into /usr/bin and do the others as well and DjVu will work.
One last thing to make sure Seamonkey doesn't crash with the DjVu plugin is to create a link from /usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc6/nsdejavu.so to ~.mozilla/plugins/
To do this open both locations in ROX and drag the file nsdejavu.so from /usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc6 to ~.mozilla/plugins and click Link (absolute)
Now it should be time to enjoy DjVu
DON'T USE THESE PACKAGES, SEAMONKEY WILL CRASH, USE NEW VERSIONS LISTED BELOW

OK testing shows DjVu Seamonkey Plugin now works and Seamonkey doesn't crash.
This is what to expect if you install the packages. Again don't use the first 2 tar.gz listed.

The other what, please? Yes, I need paint-by-numbers so I don't make a big mess!

Hello edoc,
just unzip them in root and you will end up with a folder called "usr" if you look inside you will see a "bin" folder and "share" folder in one of the tar.gz's and in the other you will find "usr" again and if you look inside that one you will find "lib"
You should only unzip one Tar.gz at a time and copy over all the files say in the usr/bin folder you just unzipped to to your installed usr/bin folder
In the share folder you'll find a few folders again you must copy what ever is in those folders in the tar.gz you have just unzipped to the same folders in you installed share folder.
for example there is an icons folder in /usr/share/icons in your installed TEENpup.
In the tar.gz there is also a /usr/share/icons folder. what ever is in that folder needs to be copied over for DjVu to work. I know that when you open that icons folder you'll find other folders as well again you need to copy exactly what is in each folder from the tar.gz to you installed TEENpup.
Lastly you will find some folders that are in the tar.gz but aren't in your installed TEENpup, just copy them over, their the easy ones.
If this is still confusing I recommend you experiment with the live TEENpup CD before you start playing with your installed version.
Also imaging that someone has programmed a app to look for what it needs in /usr/bin and you place it in /bin that app will normally never find what it needs to work. If you keep this in mind when trying to work out if you've put some thing in the right folder or not you can go to wrong.

Will PETget's and DotPups work in TEENpup?
They automate the process of installing new apps. They are one of the most appealing
features of Puppy when one is promoting it to frustrated Linux users and to newbies to
Puppy.
It does require the person creating the PETget or DotPup to set up the automation
the first time but after that every other user is saved that labor. I read that someone
even created an automated app to create them but have not tried it yet.

Barry didn't move any system folder locations between 2.14 and 3.01?
If I can make time, and discover just a little talent, I will try to put the DjVU into a DotPup
or PUPget in a few days... unless someone who knows what they are doing does so first!
The complexity of moving dozens of files and folders around is a powerful disincentive
to the use of the DjVU app and others not already pre-packaged in a DotPup or PUPget.

edoc, truefully,
Once you do it a couple of times it comes very easy to do. It also opens up the ability to add Apps you'd never thought you could. I actually find it fun to see what I can get going with this method.
I will try and create a pet package in a few days time when I'm not working 12 hours days.

Thanks John ... I will try shoehorning something into a PETget or DotPup but it
should probably be much more simple the first try!
QUESTION: Have you looked at Wengoware as a video conferencing tool?
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 67&t=22486
I wonder if there is a Puppy version that is optimized for business and non-profits
that includes a common tool like kopete or wengoware for videoconferencing.
It would need to include a list of currently available compatible webcams & headsets.

John - Could you create a DJVU PET that will work in 4.00/Dingo as well as in TeenPup?

Hello edoc,
We have been over this before in this post and the tar.gz files are still there earlier in this post.
Just download them and drag and drop then here. See attached pick.
Now click on them to unzip them. Just keep hitting OK and they will unzip to their correct locations.
Now navigate to /usr/sbin and left click your mouse on the fixmenus file.
Wait 2 to 3 seconds and then check your menu under "Document" and see if it's there.
I recommend you experiment and get it working while running live just in case you make a mistake. Also use the second lot of tar.gz's just reread the posts again.
Lastly I will not be creating any dotpups or pets in the near future for this as it already part of TEENpup, sorry.
