How to play a jingle at X startup?

#1 Post by slapshot »

Hi all,

I would like to play a jingle at X startup but I'm not able to find how such as the woof woof first time you boot Puppy. I tried in rc.local using wavplay etc.. and also in .xinitrc but with no luck.

Anyone can point me ?

Thanks

Sure!

You need hopefully a commandline utility compatible with your sound file and one that will terminate when finished, which most cli players will.

The place the barks are run is /etc/profile, near the end. Inspect it and see how it's done.

but it should also work in /root/.xinitrc, whenever the window manager restarts, just before #exec $CURRENTWM. I don't know why it hasn't worked for you.

Thanks guys :-).

I found my stupid fault:
just before #exec $CURRENTWM. I don't know why it hasn't worked for you.
I put it just after exec jwm :-).

Adding a & at the end of line will background this jingle, don't you ?

Thanks.
Antonio
