Reloading gxine with frugal install
Reloading gxine with frugal install
I suffered a glitch when loading 2.6 and have been unable to use gxine.
I loaded 2.6.1 but that had no impact on the gxine problem.
Is there something I can download and run that will load just gxine?
There were a bunch of missing files from the 2.6 load that I had to
manually load and that solved most of the problems, but not the
gxine problem.

They appear the same except that the /root/.gxine folder also includeskirk wrote:You could copy the files from /initrd/pup_ro2 That's where the read-only file system is. You might want to start by replacing your /root/.gine folder with the one in there.
accels.scm and socket.
Are you recommending that I delete the contents and copy config, keybindings,
mediamarks, and playlist from /initrd/pup_ro2 on the assumption that they
may be corrupted and that accels.scm and socket will be re-created?

While waiting for a reply I went ahead and copied/over-wrote config, keybindings, edoc wrote:They appear the same except that the /root/.gxine folder also includeskirk wrote:You could copy the files from /initrd/pup_ro2 That's where the read-only file system is. mediamarks, and playlist but did not delete accels.scm and socket and tried gxine -- no change
I did not restart x-server, should I have done so?
OK, went ahead and tried a x-server restart, no change.
Also just tried to run gxine from Console and received this error:
I did a search on libxine.so.1 and it appears to have tons of dependenciesgxine: error while loading shared libraries: libxine.so.1:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
and it seems that gxine should be reloaded.
I am guessing I am back where I started - I need a pupget or dotpup or
something from which I can load gxine completely and that will be picked
up by my frugal install.
Help?

Is there something that I can delete so that when I copy the four
frugal install 2.6.1 files from the iso
to my laptop it forces a complete install of gxine?
Trying to fix this problem is proving to be very very frustrating!
The only alternatives I see are either a Full HDD Install, which has been
frequently discouraged here on the Forum, or to backup my laptop HDD
and do a clean install of 2.6.1
If possible I'd prefer the lesser hassle of a forced gxine install if possible
since I am in the middle of a bunch of other challenges.

I loaded MPlayer but don't see where to make it the default vs gxine.
I went here:
http://puppyfiles.org/dotpupsde/dotpups ... er-1.0rc1/
and downloaded and loaded this:
MPlayer1.0rc1-unichrome.pup 4289408 20.03.07, 09:54
Help, please?
