kde gets grafpup in a pickle Subject description: no shutdown and now no restart |
|
I've got in a bit of a mess trying kde in grafpup. It was working fine til I came to shut down and it wouldnt, so I ended up pushing the off button. On powering back up, kde stalls with the message:
No write access to "/root/.ICEauthority" KDE is unable to start.
I can get back to the command line and thought I could start X with xwin | [XXXWM] but I dont know what [XXXWM] is. Any ideas?
Cheers, Mike

xwin openbox
And if lxpanel won't load, right click for the menu, go to System > Settings > Default Window Manager. Select Openbox. Then, you're good to go.

Thanks joey, I had tried xwin openbox but just got the black screen. It works now after I followed your instructions, ( although "settings" is on the menu rather than under "system", but I got your drift ) I'll try kde again now I know how to get openbox back if kde fails to shutdown properly.
Cheers, Mike
