8) Is good

Great default (IceVista) Window Manager
Great addictive games . . . . must be strong . . . must resist . . . must not play . . . (had to press Q to get out) when I tried to restart X I got a blank screen and had to reboot (was booting with puppy pfix=ram)

I like Konqueror in there (without KDE??) and other stuff such as Kpaint which seems very generic

OK gonna have to play now :)
Great fun for teens of all ages. Good job!

Make sure you update any links on the wiki and announce on wiki community news.
If not up to it I will do it . . .

This has all the Puppy attributes (make sure you have the required ram (280MB is it?) Speed, Fun and Freedom to play . . .

Woof woof
Puppy Raspup 8.2Final 8)

Hello Everyone,
In my rush to get TEENpup2.0.0 out, a bug has appeared already.

There is a problem with the Menu in TEENpup2.0.0 which doesn't effect it while running from the Live CD.
Upon installing TEENpup2.0.0 to your Hard Drive and installing more Packages, the Menu may revert to an earlier ugly version with alot of the Apps missing. to bring back the correct menu open "Home" and unhide the hidden files by clicking on the "EYE". Now open the folder .icewm and create a folder call "Menubackup" and copy the backup or old menu to that folder. Now rename that old menu to "menu" and overwrite the current menu. This will bring back TEENpup's correct menu. You will need to do the same for the jwm menu as well which you will find under "Home" (root) as well.
Sorry about this bug as it was only discovered after TEENpup2.0.0 was released.

WhoDo has informed me that the way that TEENpup2.0.0 was created by not installed extra apps using normal Dotpups/pets has created the problem. some of the Apps included in TEENpup2.0.0 aren't included in other Puppy Derivatives and the menu was created manually by me.

Please don't let this put you off trying TEENpup2.0.0 as it still has alot to offer. When a Fix has been worked out, I will let you know.

Update 1st June 2007: Well it looks like the changes made to the menu structure eg "xdg" in puppy 2.14 on which TEENpup2.0.0 is based over the old menu that was used in puppy 2.10 on which TEENpup1.0.0 was based has caused the problem.
It looks like the problem is fixable, but time consuming.
Will provide the fix as soon as I can.

#20 Post by raffy »

John, I have a similar problem in net-booting 2.16. My changed JWM menu appears in the USB boot but not in the net boot. It's good am not alone with that problem. :) Still learning the menu tricks of 2.14-2.16.

well, i mostly have no problem with xorg and this pc.
but after testing the config i get a 'dc stack underflow'

i ty witin puppy with xvesa to change the config file.
where the horizont freq is 31.5- and strangely nothing what has to be 48.5
vert is 40-70
so i make the change, save it go to terminal ant tipe xorg and it won't work.

and thats a shame because it looks o good, even in vesa mode.

Ive just installed teenpup on a P2 300 192mb laptop with no problems at all. Two 12 year olds upstairs using it now. Ill let you know how they get on. they do prefer amsn than gaim. Having all the plugins so all their websites work is great. Ill give more feedback as time goes on. I would like an option to hide everything but games, music stuff, paint stuff chat clients and a browser.

puppy linux and the teenpup derivative are exactly what I had been looking for. I tried a few other distos and had problems with them all. when I originally booted puppy I had only 64mb or RAM and was blown away when the live CD just worked.

Hello ollybee,
give kopete (kde's chat) a go, it allows for example msn and yahoo to be displayed at the same time, which is helpful if you are chating on both, saving having to click between msn and yahoo.

If you have trouble with your menu, please follow the advice above in this post.
I am trying to find a fix for it.

One thing about Teen Puppy is when you select Xvesa,
the screen goes back to the prompt.
Personally I always use Xvesa...so this is a real nuisance,
especially if you are a Newbie.
One thing I could not find was the Internet Phone.
Is it still there or not?
I only gave it a Teenpup a quick look over so I may have missed it.

Regards ...Chris

hello cthisbear,
Sorry about xvesa and sorry but i didn't include the internet phone in TEENpup2.0.0
The xvesa problem may relate to the use of the KDE 3.5.4 base that the KDE Apps run off.
I have a feeling TEENpup2.0.0 will work on less older PC's than TEENpup1.0.0 I guess time will tell.

About Office Apps, Gxine and XSoldier

#31 Post by metre9dmt »

Office applications (AbiWord, Gnumeric, QCad) seems to be working fine.

My son was playing around with teenpup. He tried to play his favorite mp3s using Gxine but it gave an error when it tried to open files and\or using the playlist.

My screen at home is a 14-inch monitor. I set it up to 800x600, 16bit resolution. When my son tried to play XSoldier, only the upper half appears. Is there a way to reconfigure the resolution/screen size of the game?

Hello metre9dmt,
TEENpup is for me a way to learn how Linux works, It's not perfect .
I didn't designed TEENpup2.0.0 to work at 600x800. If I find a fix for xsoldier I'll let you know. I will look into why gxine isn't playing MP3's and let you know if I find an answer.

I can't move around an mp3 in XMMS using the slider or hotkeys. I keep getting an error.
failed to seek to: -2147483648
No matter where I try to seek to. Anyone else getting this?

**UPDATE**
I'm using XMMS on my desktop without a problem. I'm having trouble with my Toshiba Satellite 4025 still though. I'm going to try and delete my save file and re-create it to see if that works.
