puppy install will not identify my video card NVIDIA 8600 gt

#1 Post by kangy32 »

I am a windows user trying to escape from MS, I really liked the look and ease of configuring a earlier puppy I tried while experimenting with other versions.
I have just recently updated my video card and decided to put the latest puppy onto the computer BUT it always drops back to the prompt during the video detect part and I have not been able to get it to go any further, unfortunately being a MS corrupted person I do not have any idea how to fiddle with the scripts.
I would say that anybody new with the same video card may be put off by this problem
anyway any help would be appreciated

Video card issues

#2 Post by gray »

I had the same problem with my 7600GS using xorg. xvesa runs OK but is very slow redrawing. To get it all running properly I had to install the installNvidia-Puppy-2.12-and-2.13.pup.

It all worked fine after setting up the drivers, including 3D acceleration. :D

Thanks for help, I will have a look at that one, but the image seems to be about a year old.
