Grafpup issue with Jack audio connection kit

#1 Post by jcagle »

I've already posted this on the Grafpup board, but seeing how Nathan is not available to help me immediately, I'm posting here too.

I'm using the Jack Audio Connection kit, and when I try to start Jack, Jack won't start, I get this in the messages.
13:43:07.885 Patchbay deactivated.
13:43:07.994 Statistics reset.
13:43:08.114 JACK is starting...

13:43:08.133 JACK was started with PID=30217 (0x7609).
13:43:08.204 MIDI connection graph change.

13:43:08.224 JACK was stopped with exit status=1.
13:43:08.535 MIDI connection change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should note that this is Grafpup 2 Beta, Jack works great in Grafpup 1.4

Perhaps it's a bug in the beta version of Grafpup 2, but I wanted to see if anyone here might know what it is.

undefined symbol (repeated for 3 unfilled dependencies)
no drivers found; exiting
See Previous version that did work - run lsmod = compare

Try different commands like those in brackets

Run (diff) on Cfg files

Copy lsmod &/or dmesg content into text files, grep for (snd)

Code: Select all

 $ less jack-w*|grep snd
snd-seq-midi 3296 0 (unused)
snd-seq-midi-event 3488 0 [snd-seq-midi]
snd-seq 35376 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-midi-event]
snd-ens1371 11360 0
snd-rawmidi 12832 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-ens1371]
snd-seq-device 3924 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq snd-rawmidi]
gameport 1596 0 [snd-ens1371]
snd-ac97-codec 52472 0 [snd-ens1371]
snd-pcm 56168 0 [snd-ens1371 snd-ac97-codec]
snd-timer 13636 0 [snd-seq snd-pcm]
snd 32164 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-ens1371 snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd-ac97-codec snd-pcm snd-timer]
soundcore 3588 2 [snd]
snd-page-alloc 4840 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd-pcm snd-timer snd]

Code: Select all

 $ less jack*NOT*|grep snd
j snd_mixer_oss 17408 1
snd_seq_midi 9024 0
snd_seq_midi_event 7168 1 snd_seq_midi
snd_seq 48496 2 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_ens1371 25376 1
gameport 15368 1 snd_ens1371
snd_rawmidi 23872 2 snd_seq_midi,snd_ens1371
snd_seq_device 8204 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi
snd_ac97_codec 94244 1 snd_ens1371
ac97_bus 2432 1 snd_ac97_codec
snd_pcm 78736 2 snd_ens1371,snd_ac97_codec
snd_timer 23432 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm
snd 52068 8 snd_mixer_oss,snd_seq,snd_ens1371,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_timer
soundcore 7904 2 snd
snd_page_alloc 10248 1 snd_pcm
Offhand, > Seq_midi_event & page allocations differ

OR > run (diff) to compare

Try (ldd) against executable to check dependencies were met
Use (ltrace)

Refer to Jack documentation
I don't use grafpup nor jack > perhaps it's better to:
Wait for Nathan (probably the best, He will be far more informed)

HTH

Well Nathan said he hasn't had any problems with Jack, but would try a fresh save file and see if he gets this error. Don't know if he's gotten around to it yet.

I told him myself I would try a fresh save file, and see if I still get the error. I still haven't gotten to it because of work and other stuff.

Just to test it out, I downloaded the Jack Audio Connection Kit from dotpups.de in Grafpup 2 beta, and it appears to work fine. JACK starts right up.

Before, I was using the JACK available from pupget in Grafpup 2 beta. Perhaps that one has problems?
