I am looking for a voip softphone which has good voice quality that can be used with a third party sip proxy.

Xtensoftphone for linux has bad voice quality. Incoming is muffled(lacks treble) and outgoing adds a lisp. Or is there something I can do in the configuration?

Gizmo or Skype do not appear to be useable with a third party sip proxy so are useless. Am I wrong here?

I tried to get Twinkle working in Puppy but failed. Too many missing libraries.

So has anybody got Ekiga (gnome meeting) or Kphone working?
