Ubuntu has good marketing (giving away free disks is always good) and has a commercial support structure - Canonical.
All we have is a faster, more generic, easy to use operating system. That does not mean we win.
I feel Ubuntu, Redhat, Novell (the distro formerly known as Suse) are taken seriously because they are willing to make compromises and commercial decisions.
I have no objections to suits. As long as they know their place; supporting the Developers without interfering.
I would certainly make use of ideas and code from other open source projects as is our protected right.
I would love to see Puppy in hardware and on an x86 compatible cell phone . . . it may happen if circumstances are right
I do not feel there is much passion in the bigger distros or innovation or speed.
We will stay frisky . . .

Neither. This post was just to whet the appetite for a puplet that is still in development. I wanted to test the water to see who would respond with interest in the project. That's all.wdef wrote:@WhoDo:
Did I miss something, or is there a download link for your EZpup? Might be nice to have a try ..
The Alpha of EZpup will be offered to the forum denizens first, of course.
Cheers

Toshiba could well be a goer; however I can't get any version of puppy to see the network on an Acer Aspire 3000 variety of laptop, which uses an SiS 900 series chipset.bobn9lvu wrote:... and An older Toshiba lappy to test it on...

Had some work to do on repairing WinXP on that machine, and ended up going back to use an early version of PCLinuxOS live which hasn't failed me anywahere so far.
I haven't yet tried grafpup on it, though.

Have you noticed editing is always needed for the inevitable typos that weren't there when you hit the "post" button?

EZpup -- the Best
I just installed it, the best-looking and acting Puppy ever! Thanks.
Very nice WhoDo, polish is something that shouldn't be overlooked.
But the "just works" thing comes above all else of course.
Just works seems to relate mostly to MIME, the file types being handled properly.
Other than that, the media codecs for music & movies are real critical.
I'm not a fan of Mozilla / Seamonkey, but it's good for a basic browser.
Firefox is my work horse, Opera may be a good choice though.
