ROX tips
to move (or copy or symlink) a file, drag the file with the middle mouse button (the wheel)
to open 2 or more rox windows from a script, just include the paths for each window
for example, to open rox windows showing my-applications and my-documents, type:
rox /root/my-applications /root/my-documents
you can also open files, like txt files, mp3 files, html files ... they will open with whatever program rox would use if you clicked the file ... for example:
rox readme.txt movie.avi
to open a new rox window, you can click a folder or the home button or the up-arrow button with the middle mouse button
rox bookmarks are useful too ... you can open a rox window showing my-documents, press ctrl+4, and instantly go to my-documents any time by pressing 4 ... similarly, you can set a bookmark to show my-applications when you press 5
you can add items to the SendTo menu from a script or a dotpup the same way as i added template items to the New menu

Wot? Middle mouse button? It's worn away . . .GuestToo wrote:to move (or copy or symlink) a file, drag the file with the middle mouse button (the wheel)
No wait I never had one . . . I did try (have in the last 3 versions of Puppy) my other mouse which is a scroll mouse - serial type. Puppy is a bit skitty on this - so not working. Is it worth investing in a 3 button Linux mouse or a scroll mouse, or can I use the olde click both buttons to simulate the 3rd button trick? - somehow?)
PS. Many thanks for the tips

smartmontools
The README says to type "smartctrl -a /dev/hda" to get the info on a drive. I believe that the correct command is "smartctl -a /dev/hda". No "r" in the last part of "smartctrl".
you're right ... i must have typed that instead of actually executing the line in rxvt and copy/pasting the tested and working command (which is what i usually do, because it's so easy to make a tiny mistake)
i haven't really tested the smartd daemon mode extensively ... i did test that it actually starts and stops, of course

Pawm.pup doesn't work?
HI just tried pawm.pup in 1.0.3 bare bones and in 1.0.2 50m.
After installation of pup file:
ctrl-alt-bs to exit X
startx pawm
(X was starting - grey meshed bg; the exiting)
I could not find any specific error message..?
ldd shows all libs are found..?

I tried it too.
Move to the bottom of the screen to activate the menu bar - which seems to be very minimal - just as it says . . .
- eh maybe it is too minimal, all I got was a bar, no menus?

pawm error message
That's the contents of /tmp/xerrs.txt from startx pawm in 1.0.3 bare bones:
*** INTERNAL ERROR, please report so it can be fixed!
* Process 1396 aborting...
* errno <2> (No such file or directory)
* pawn-2.0.1 (pawindow) pawindow_init()@src/pawindow.c:1558
Report bugs to David Gomez <david@pleyades.net>
I assume an important difference between 1.0.3 full (were it is working?)
and 1.0.3 bare bones and 1.0.2 50m versions. Probably it is searching for
icon files etc. that it can not found? To bad, that it doesn't tell what is missing/not found
