Rox 2.6 hacked
rox25to26.pup ... updates Rox 2.5 to Rox 2.6
NOTE: requires Rox 2.5 to be already installed.
NOTE: will not work with my Rox 2.5 dotpup package.
Click the dotpup file again to uninstall.
Tested in Puppy 216 alpha.
The source was hacked slightly to remove the Running As Root message, and to not display the -o Option Is Deprecated message, but I did not change SendTo to OpenWith. Rox in Puppy uses OpenWith in the menu and configuration files.

Re: Rox 2.6 hacked
Great stuff! Thanks, G2. I downloaded the source prior to compiling, but my compile environment needs work so you have saved me some precious time. Much appreciated, mate.GuestToo wrote:Rox 2.6 hacked
This is not a dotpup, or dotpet package.
Unzip the file(s) and copy the file to the appropriate location.
I can make a dotpup package later.
Cheers

just delete the symlink /root/.icons/ROX ... Rox will replace it when it starts
i noticed some of the Rox file are not owned by root, for some reason
also, to update to Rox 2.6 from Rox 2.5 in Puppy 216 alpha only requires these files:
/usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/AppInfo.xml
/usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/Help/Manual.html
/usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/images/rox-symlink.png
/usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/Options.xml
/usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/ROX-Filer
the other files may not be identical (for example, icons) but they all exist
my ROX-Filer executable is compressed with UPX, so if you use it in a .sfs file, you should decompress it first (upx -d ... there is no point in compressing it twice

Re: Rox 2.6 hacked
Installed and running without problems. I had a look at the Sendto/OpenWith issue and noted that there are no default options as there are in the earlier version ... just a customise button to add your own. Can these links be safely copied from the old Rox 2.5 to avoid recreating them?GuestToo wrote:The source was hacked slightly to remove the Running As Root message, and to not display the -o Option Is Deprecated message, but I did not change SendTo to OpenWith.
