If you already downloaded RC4, you won't need to download again so long as you apply the xmms patch found here:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 4&start=10

That's the only change from RC4 to Final.

Happy Easter one and all!

Cheers

Thanks for the tip WhoDo, might save some B/W. :)

I've downloaded the web sfs file, but cannot find Firefox in the menus. Where was it placed?

Have you run fixmenus from the console? The XDG menus won't update until after you've rebooted with web_215.sfs in the same directory as your pup_save.2fs file AND you have run fixmenus from a console AND refreshed your WM.

If Firefox still doesn't show after that, look in /usr/share/applications for the firefox .desktop file to see where it is pointing. If XDG can't find the executable it won't add the program even though there is a .desktop file there.

Hope that helps

Congratulations to Warren and Team Puppy.
Please mirror and bit torrent

Add to this thread
and here
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppy215Downloads

Any more mirrors, bittorrents?

Use wget (or bit torrent - please set up) for reliable download
http://lifehacker.com/software/top/geek ... 161202.php

This is a Community Edition
but most of the work is done by WhoDo (Warren).
Everyone who contributed, tested,
attended meetings and added ideas
and now mirrors is doing their bit.
Well done guys.

Warren mate, You did good!

In honour of Viz and the Oz connection
I will be having a brew for breakfast . . . [just the one]

I can't edit either of my previous posts except the way I just did. This is because of the forum claiming all my posts are invalid.

That is why I've taken so long to respond.

=====================

My previous post in here observed my download didn't agree with the md5

I tried two more downloads, a second from pkag and one from MU's site.

The one from pkag was on the same computer as before to prove computer, ethernet etc.

You'll be pleased to know both the subsequent downloads proved "binary equal" as the verification message from K3b says, and I've burned both to CD.

As promised, I let you know in an edit to this post :)

Sorry if it caused alarm. I just wanted to prevent your bandwidth being wasted if there was a dud file on there.

Mirror at http://micro-hard.homelinux.net/puppy/d ... -Final.iso

Thanks Richard
Menu (start / Internet / wget
is the secure way to download - when using wget even if link is broken it continues, reestablishes a link and checks. It is also fast.

have added Richards download here. More welcome

This is an important page to keep updated (used by Distrowatch I believe)

:)

I think with Mysticmarks help we may have our first torrent . . .
Does this work - can we start seeding?
http://www.tmxxine.com/viz/puppy-215CE- ... so.torrent

also a bit of publicity if you have a blog or news page - like so . . .

Yikes, who put my direct iso link on DistroWatch? That blew threw 172 GB in no time. which is interesting as it's 100GB limit. :) Maybe Ladislav could edit the announce to not include direct iso link as the server is down until 0100 UTC.

I'm also seeding the torrent for a while, currently 11 seeding & 2 downloading.

It looks awesome. Too bad I didn't have enough time to participate.

I liked the visual consistency and I'm sure that's where most people will focus, although I know how much work you all put on the "behind the scenes" modifications that are not apparent and are intended to make this a better experience for the user.

Thank you for all your effort and congratulations.
