Subject description: Puppy dead, pfix=purge does not help, i'm desperate to save my data!

Hi,

I was messing with glibc, well, nevermind. The situation looks like even purging or cleaning Puppy does not make it usable, kernel panic or something.

I will install new puppy, its fast and easy, thanks to dotpets Very Happy But how to save all my data from the broken pup_save? I would like to mount it when my new puppy is working and simply copy needed data, since i cannot do it using other system (window$).

Please, it's very important for me to get my data back Very Happy i believe there's some simple mount command to mount .2fs file exacly like any partition, puppy mounts it every time he boots Very Happy But i don't know how to do that.

mount -t ext2 -o loop /locationof/your/pupfile.2fs /mnt/yourmountpoint

you put the correct information in the unbolded portion of the command

--------------
actually you can do it in windows with ex2fs

I set Puppy up for a friend and then told him, "Don't worry about a thing, just use it. If it breaks I'll fix it."

My friend never used a computer before and he went around telling people he was using Linux. For this he got a lot of negative feedback, the basis being that Linux was too hard for a novice.

Come on folks, all he wants to do is browse the Internet.

As time passed, he had a chance to use Windows XP. I asked him if the thought XP was easier. He said, "Its about the same, except with XP there are soo many popups."

I suppose that XP was a typically infected machine.

Suppose I'd installed some version of Windows. Do you think I'd have told him just to use it and not worry? No, because it would take me a long time to set it up again.
