Gxine when playing a stream buffers to USB key

#1 Post by dragonneus »

Gxine when playing a stream buffers to the usb key, how do I keep puppy from doing this? I really dont want to burn out my usb key and if I just pull the key out it screws up the shutdown config save.

I run puppy off of a mini cd and save my config on a usb key.

Ive tried to run a stream via gxine without the key and it works just fine.

Thank you in advance for your insight

Sincerly,
Dragonneus

It sounds like it's caching the audio stream to your pup_save.2fs file. If it's caching to /tmp then this link might help. link

Or perhaps you could run without the usb stick being automounted like is mentioned in this thread. link

How much memory do you have? I was under the impression when you boot from a USB key, it loads into memory and save to disk only when you run out of space.

Start a terminal window and type thye command Tops. Run your video. It's possible that your video is overloading your memory and causing puppy to save to disk.

Do you have swap memory, in addition to RAM?
