no sound with gxine -- TP 560x

P-233mhz, 64mb RAM, 128mb swap. PupLite 2.14 (same conditions hold true for Puppy 2.14)

soundcard is loaded and works. i just went to http://www.archive.org/details/lf1973-07-19.flacf and listened to a live Little Feat concert.

but when i download a .wmv file from http://www.crooksandliars.com -- btw, needed to have a copy of wmvdmod.dll in /usr/lib/win32 -- gxine gives me video, but no sound.

in rc.local i have the following line:

modprobe snd-cs4236 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0
