Here's a complete re-write of PBrename that I've renamed to PRename.

0.2 - updated the icons to use the stock gtk icons

0.3 - changed all the writing to /tmp directory to $HOME/.config/tmp basically for multi-user puppies like grafpup since if you run it as root than try to run it as a regular user you will not be able to access the /tmp files written as root. I also added a back button on the second screen incase you're not happy with the displayed changes and you want to try again. A couple of other minor changes.

0.4 - fixed a bug when the selected directory has spaces in the name

0.5 - fixed some more bugs

0.6 - fixed more spaces bugs and a bug when renaming directories

0.7 - fixed some bugs and created an "append to" option

When you run the program you'll get the gui in front where you select your directory and options and then click rename and you'll get the gui in the back. That gui will just show you what your new files/directories will look like and if you're happy click the rename button on that gui and the files will be renamed otherwise click Exit and no changes will be made.

Thanks for PBrename. It helps me frequently.

A proposal:
Maybe PBrename could be a solution to the often seem UTF-8 problem. If PBrename could rename files from one charset to another, it would help me and others here on the forum. Rox shows me a huge amount of files with errors - (Bad UTF-8). The other way around, it seems like other programs i Puppy doesn't like UTF-8, and wants another standard.

Ok, I know nothing at all about how to incorporate this. If anyone wants to shed some light on that let me know and I'll try and add it.

I can't get it work when path contains space.

Would it be possible to make it work recursively?

Thanks for a nice program!

Yeah, I've been meaning to work on that. I'll see if I can't fix it.

Ok, 0.6 should fix all the spaces issues. Let me know if you find any bugs.

Bonjour, Thanks a lot for this batch that is really very useful... But I wondered if it could suppress the accents of files names, it should be greater ! Does such a batch or script exist somewhere or not ?
Best regards.

When I try to use the "append" option it puts what I want to append before the current file names, not after. Does it do that for anyone else or is there something really weird on my system?
