Hello Everyone,
I have been a Linux user for 14 months and have tried about 40 different Distro's.
I first came across Puppy Linux when it was at version 1.06 and because it didn't have Dial-Up modem support and because it wasn't as flash looking as other distro's running KDE, Gnome etc Desktops, I kept on searching for a usable Linux Distro.
I ended up a Mepis 3.4-3 user for about 5 months and learnt a bit about Linux.
Then one day I read on Distrowatch that Puppy 2.10 now had Dial-Up modem support and not having much to do decided to download it and try it.
I wasn't expecting much, but found myself on the internet using Dial-Up in around a minute of booting up Puppy.
I also was amazed to see Encrypted DVD's happy playing with Gxine and being able to open Window's Media, something Mepis wasn't able to do without some work.
Like most of you Puppy grows on you, Puppy is additive.
I also learnt more in a month about Linux then I had in the 5 months I used Mepis.

After using Puppy for a few weeks, I thought I'd show others how good it was. They said it looked old and lost interest after that.

I thought as most of you have, wouldn't it be nice if Puppy looked better, maybe then magic of Puppy could grow on a few more PC user's.

So slowly for the last few months I have been building what I can "TEENpup Linux" adding more Packages, making changes here and there to give a good first impression.

MU has kindly allowed TEENpup 1.0.0 to be hosted and should be available for download in a few days.
I hope you find TEENpup useful and fun.

Thanks to MU, you can now download it from here http://puppyisos.org/isos/2007-01-to-06/

Here's a few screenshots of what you can expect.

Hello Gekko,
Have no idea what kind of Bird that is, Sorry!!
Just letting you know that Gizmo is included in TEENpup and has been working fine for me. My wife uses it alot.

Hi Guys,

Just to clarify, The bird is a European Robin, Erithacus rubecula.

Looks a very nice Pup :)

The bird is a robin. The wren is smaller and looks brown, similar to a female robin.

Robins now come every day to our tiny suburban garden. Here it is in summer.

I must admit (nothing against Mepis) I tried to run it 3 times on two different machines. Never could get it to boot into xwindows. It is now using Ubuntu/Debian as its core so I imagine it will now work as I never have problems with Debian based distros.

How did you put it together? Unleashed? Dougal script? .

Exciting

Very interesting - no, it's exciting!

Is this based on 2.14? Can Youtube videos play well in Gxine?

Hello raffy and mbutts,
As I have been building TEENpup for a few months, TEENpup is based on Puppy 2.10
As there was a problem when installing Puppy 2.11 and 2.12 to your Hard Drive requiring a user to reboot their live CD after Hard Drive install and go into the installed Puppy and edit a line to get it working. I felt for a newbie this might be off putting. I believe the problem was fixed in 2.13 and 2.14.
As Rox 2.5 seems to have a mind of it own with backgrounds and icons not always doing what you want. I decide to stay with the Rox that comes with 2.10
Hopefully later TEENpups will use more current versions of Puppy.

The ipod icon is for gtkpod.

Basically everything extra in TEENpup has come from the forum, dotpups.de and where ever I could find a Dotpup, background, icon.
I just made sure I only took icons and Backgrounds and other files from Linux based Distro's or were GPL licenced.
All I have done is bring together a good collection of Apps in one handy CD and brighten up Puppy to give it a bit of eye candy.

OH! raffy,
I forgot to answer your question about YouTube and Gxine.
If you look on my screenshot on the righthand side, you will see a "Flash" update icon which allows you to update to flash 9.
You don't have to download flash 9 again, it's included in TEENpup ready for you to install.
Also you will find the "NoScript" plugin which will stop Seamonkey from crashing after you install flash 9
TEENpup comes with flash 7 installed for those who don't need flash 9.

I just went to YouTube and it said "you don't have the latest version of flash installed etc", I left mouse clicked on my "NoScript" icon at the bottom right of my screen and clicked allow flash from YouTube and away it went, no problems.

Also check out the other icons on the right of screen.
Again, no need to download again, all already included in TEENpup.

TEENpup is about making life easy to live with Puppy.

Does this come with Java? It should :D Then we can put FrostWire on there :P Or atleast put a bittorrent client or dc++ client :D

Edit: I'll compile DC++ for Linux and gtk-gnutella. The end.

Hello Gekko,
I am very interested in including Gtk-Gnutella in TEENpup.
At the moment I have already finalized TEENpup 1.0.0 and it will be available for download in a day ot two.
In a few weeks time I will Update TEENpup to 1.0.1 and include any new Dotpups that would suit TEENpup like Gtk-Gnutella does.

I want TEENpup to get better and better and become more useful.

So keep them coming.

Hello everyone,
Now that TEENpup1.0.0 is available for download, here's some more info.
TEENpup still uses Seamonkey as it browser like Puppy.
I have included a few Themes to brighten it up and some Plugins to make it more useful.
If you look at the screenshot of Seamonkey, you will see the "Nemesis" theme installed as well as the weather forecaster and flashgot plugins installed.

I hope you enjoy TEENpup as much as I do.

Linux Desktop the way it should be.

:)

I had a feeling this was going to be good and it is.
I am running it now.
The last ime I was this impressed
with a puplet was the release of Simplepup.

I am running it OK at 1024 x 1280 (hope I got those numbers right for once)
The recommended 128MB of ram is also not possible for all.
For most people this will be a desktop Linux to use and enjoy.

A fishtank. All kinds of great programs:
Q-Cad, Scribus, Cinepaint, Xara, Audacity,
View Your Mind (I may get one just to use this),
Gizmo VOIP, Net Radio, Zaxxon game, Dosbox

Many people have worked hard to create Puppy,
the basis, the Dotpups, the support - so much care and attention . . .
. . . and then it all comes together in somethng like Teen Pup
This is Linux Desktop the way it should be.

I Love it :)
