Transend-IDE Flash Module - is industial grade and will last

I use a Transend 128meg IDE flash module- Free Dos and -Puppy Floppy-128 bit version - and made puppy boot form the module directly ( with out floppy disk) in to 256meg memory- (locked) read only
and OEM 128 meg ide fash module read/write for data
20 sec boot!!!!!!
A true HD install?

Pardon my ignorance, but do you mean you can treat it like a _real_ hard drive, same IDE cable and master (or slave) setting? Does it show up as /dev/hda?

Writing to flash memory wears it out. I believe flash memory life is somewhere between 10K and 100K writes, per address. For that reason, Puppy is designed to minimize writing to USB (basically, everything to be saved to the flash memory is written only at shutdown.) Depending on how you configure Puppy, you may "wear out" your flash memory pretty quickly when you use it as an IDE hard drive. It's worth checking into.

Well, maybe IDE flash modules use a different kind of flash memory, or maybe I'm just wrong.
You don't exactly give any information to support your assertion that IDE flash modules last longer. All I'm saying is that it's worth checking out before you commit to using an IDE flash module as a replacement for a hard drive.
