Problems with zd1211rw driver in Puppy 2.14

#1 Post by barriew »

As I reported elsewhere on the Forum, the zd1211rw driver in Puppy 2.14 would only allow me to connect at 11Mbps, but would support WPA. At that time all my testing had been done with the laptop and router in close proximity. Now I have found that not only is the driver speed restricted, its output power appears to be severely reduced. I cannot connect if I move the laptop about about 20ft (6m) from the router. This is not a hardware issue as I could connect with zd1211b, and can connect with XP from the same location.

I have now reverted to zd1211b, which gives 54Mbps, supports WEP , but not WAP.

Does anyone know if the zd1211rw is the latest version?

My USB adapter is labeled BlueNEXT, and I am using Puppy 2.14 from a full hard disc installation.
