Is it possible to reposition the clock as my display is not properly showing the time. I can check time by placing my cursor over the bottom right hand corner and it will give me the day, month and time but looking at the area it displays as 07:

This would be ideal as it should sit quitely in the corner but fully visable

Mine is visible. What version of Puppy do you use? What screen resolution have you set?

don't know why jwm isn't displaying the full time, but i wonder if you change the line in /root/.jwmrc that reads:

<Clock format=" %R ">xclock</Clock>

to this:



<Clock format=" %R %d % m">xclock</Clock>

where d= day & m=month, both in numeric format, if that "bumps" the time across?

( after you've saved this, Control-alt-backspace then xwin to see if has desired effect. if no improvement, just revert to original)

Flash - you prompted me to check my screen resolution only to remember that when I was struggling with cateracts I set my setting lower.
I should be working with 1280 x 1024. Can I reset this without going right back to the start as I am still working from a CD.

I used muggins suggestion and am happy to report that my time is now clearly displayed as 10:40 24 %.
Dont know where % came from but can live with that.

If you are using XVESA you can change the screen resolution by doing
Menu-Setup-XVESA Video Wizard, there should be an option to change resolutions with X running

If you are using XORG then you need to shut down the X server first though you don't have to reboot.

Write these instructions down
WARNING this will exit any of your graphical programs but it won't reboot
Menu - Shutdown - Exit To Prompt
then type follow the prompts
when it finishes typeto restart your X server

with pleasure I have seen that you started to help others! That's the beauty of Linux that there are people with all levels of knowledge and in a lot of cases it's easier for somebody with a lesser level to understand the questions of a noob.

Just burning 2.14 to not be the "old guy" any more..... EDIT: yeah, and running! Worthwhile the CD to burn it on........
