Gdmap with large file patch

#1 Post by GuestToo »

GdMap 0.7.5

Patched to work with files that are larger than 2 gigs.

compiled on Puppy 108

http://gdmap.sourceforge.net/

see: here and here

GdMap allows you to visualize disk space. Directories and files are displayed as rectangular areas. The larger a file, the larger the rectangle which represents it.

GdMap 0.7.5 with added "Quit" toolbar button

Patched to work with files that are larger than 2 gigs.

compiled on Puppy 213

http://gdmap.sourceforge.net/

i don't know why ctrl+Q and ctrl+O do not work
maybe the syntax doesn't work properly with newer versions of GTK
the code that would need to be changed seems to be line 99 in gui_main.c
since ctrl+Q doesn't work, i added a Quit button as a workaround (easier than clicking a tiny X in the corner of the window)

GuestToo, could you add a short description of what Gdmap does? Thanks. :)

Since I am running 211, I wasn't sure which one to get but thought I'd try the first one (compiled on 1.08 ) as being less risky.

It did indeed find the 3.5 gig file. However I noticed it took something like 4 times as long to scan through my hard drive (8 gig of data).

Thanks for the quick response by the way!

<later> I booted 214 and tried the 213-compiled version. I had already deleted the large file, just wanted to check the speed. I don't know, it may be somewhat slower. Anyway I suggest anyone trying these, to first put a stopwatch on how fast the unpatched gdmap works, then compare times. Maybe this is all in my head! Or maybe it doesn't matter...
