Hello !

When i click scan, i get the WLANs list, i select one, and a few seconds later, the same list appears again... I try CANCEL... the same... loop...

I tried defining a profile, it looks like it connects, but no Rx (with dhcp or static IP and ping)

I'm running this super Puppy 2.13, with a PCMCIA Linksys WPC11.

Any help much appreciate Rolling Eyes

Do you begin by clicking the "Connect" icon on the desktop?

Thank you for replys.

Yes i first click on connect and yes i try to connect to a secure router (WEP).

I have been tring RutiLT, i can see the SSIDs on "site survey" tab, select one and click connect, it asks me for a WEP key, but i finaly get this error message :

Can't set WEP encryption key : index : 3 code : 22

I tried both HEX and ASCII key...

Is WEP the problem ?
Any idea ?

Thanks

Check to see what driver Puppy has loaded for your card. The Network Wizard should tell you this. If not, run "lsmod" to see what drivers are loaded.

I suspect you may have ver2, 2.5, or 3 of the WPC11, which would have Prism2/2.5/3 chipsets.
These are best supported by the hostap driver, but it's possible that an older driver - the orinoco_cs has loaded instead.
The orinoco_cs driver has limited support for Prism2x chips, but probably doesn't support WEP encryption with Prism2x chips.
(It does support WEP with Orinoco chips, see here - http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=92709#92709)

If I'm right, the fix would then be to add "orinoco_cs" to the skip list in rc.modules, and manually load the hostap_cs module instead.

Trying to figure out what pup 2.12 loaded auto here. Checked in Winx system & said I have a linksys mini pci wifi card. Quite sure when I looked at it that it was a broadcom.Rolling Eyes Bottom line is it's workng.

I think the ethernet is broadcom & pup loaded a b44 driver.

If the sound card is listed, does anyone know if it's known to work? Haven't sorted that out & wiz sez all is ok.

Doubt If wep is the prop though dunno what wep type pup supports. I use wep 64 no probs. What are the other parameters you are entering in regards to wep settings?

You have to set your encryption according to how setup at the router. What are the settings there? It's one or the other (wep or ascii) & can't be both.
