Erratic Intel 3945 Wifi on Dell Inspiron Subject description: Sometimes on, sometimes blinking |
|
Hello!
First of all please excuse my English, I know it's far, far away from perfection.
I'm new to puppy, I started trying 2.13, now testing 2.14 and really entusiasthic with this marvel, although, have a little problem with my wireless card, that didn't found solution in the forums.
I have a Dell inspiron 6400 with built in intel 3945 PCI wifi card.
It works perfect on windows but seems to get loosy on puppy.
When puppy starts WIFI led keeps off, blinking one instant every second, more or less.
After running wifi wizard, or the other tools provided, it detects the card and awakes it in some way, blinking at a higher rate, maybe 8 - 10 times every second, then it detects wifi and even gets wifi data, but does not allow to connect.
One of every 8 - 10 times I reboot and start again, wifi light keeps on, and
then it allows to connect, this runs for a while, until it again starts
blinking again and loose connection.
I've used also the windows driver, but got the same results.
Does anyone found the same problem?
Unfortunately I'm a linux newbie, so it's difficult for me to try other
solutions, I even get the latest linux drivers from Intel, but I'm not able
to install them.
Any help will be most appreciated, I can use puppy everywere but on my home PC.
Thanks in advance and best regards from Spain.
