Changing the subject a bit, how do I get iPup and Litepup listed on the puppylinux.org download page?

I have a couple questions, first is Dillo included in the iPup iso file? If it is I would really appreciate the list of dependencies. I would like to start from something like iPup, but I don't want Abi, Dillo, or MTpaint as I intend to use OO, GimpShop, and Firefox. Still this is better than starting with the standard 2.12 which has the weighty Seamonkey as well. Also is Geany included? I really need Geany, when I Geany Leafpad goes completely unused. Maybe I looking for a really, really, really lite Pup. Perhaps I should just go the unleashed route. If I do I could still use your dependency list as this is close to a good starting point for me?
Thanks for any help,

Dillo is needed by Puppy for the sound setup script. AbiWord is tied to GimpPrint such that GimpPrint won't work if AbiWord isn't there. About the only thing you can ditch is mtPaint. However, I left it in so that I can create screenshots.

:)

A WP and Paint program are basic, so needs to remain. I would suggest sound is hardware - and also needs inclusion.

A list of installed packages (this is the packages.txt file used by createpuppy) would be useful.

Hi guys,

these are great news :-). I'm making something similar thanks also to Todd who shared his list of packages and I had got a 42.7 mb distro such as litePup with Dillo, Abiword, MUT and a few other things.
But my aim is not to release this kind of minimal distro but to give the users also a pupsave.3fs file which complete Puppy 2.12 distro.
What are advantages ? Well, in my mind it could be faster during boot phase and it could require not so many hardware resource to boot.
This is just an experiment, I liked to replicate Puppy 2.12 distro but starting from unleashed core and keeping low with an already saved pupsave file that is not increasing iso and I'm right now testing it, even if I cannot understand the result of top, free and cat /proc/meminfo as suggested in the forum by Gn2, it seems all the same ram occupation. Maybe tmpfs :O ?

My final aim is to have experience to build Edupup with some squashfs for Educational, Development, Internet etc.. . BTW, I seem I read there is a number limit for the presence of these squashfs. Is it true ?

p.s. If someone is interested to try this experimental distro let me know, I will give it the link where to download it.
Bye

Package list

#24 Post by SirDuncan »

I am interested in building my own puplet based on LitePup's package list. However, I want to build it with Unleashed rather than a remaster script. I was hoping that you wouldn't mind sharing the list with me. I see you've already done this once, for slapshot, so I hope it isn't a problem.

Both iPup 1.02 and Litepup 1.12 have been build using the same base, which I created with Unleashed. This base was created by taking the "standard" puppy package list and subtracting. Below you will find two files. One is named "out", the other "in". The "out" list contains what I subtracted from the build script. The "in" list was made by taking Barry's "in" list and subtracting my "out" list. Simply put, the out.zip file is for SirDuncan and the in.zip file is for Lobster.

AndyMack:

I spoke with PizzasGood and followed his instructions on how to add zdrv to Litepup. I have posted the iso in the archive.

Todd

Addendum:

To add the zdrv drivers to a build, just add the zdrv_212.sfs file to the rest of the files within an iso.
