details of flite install needed
While it may be simple, maybe it will help users to know how you installed flite, Paul.
Another option to consider is Puppy 1.02, as it has a Linux 2.6 kernel. Check the download sites from Barry's site: http://puppyos.com/download/downpage.htm
or this http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/
The good news is that its browser behaves (in my Yahoo mail) like Firefox - this must be the early release of Seamonkey.
Oops, the system of 1.02 is OSS - discussion of the sound driver for 1.02 is created at forum.puppylinux.net.

Is ewayco the only company selling this product ? I could have sworn that there were a couple others ?? If you could point me to more links and info (wiki perhaps) I would appreciate it.
Also has the sound issue been worked out and are there any other issues with the computers running puppy ?

Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!
klh, you'll find info and tips in the 10th post of this thread: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=13528klhrevolutionist wrote:Is ewayco the only company selling this product ? Oh, and sound works perfectly if you run Puppy 2.13 on it. Just don't forget to add zdrv_213.sfs to the CF card.

Ebox retailer
I just bought the ebox from www.wdlsystems.com. It was 116 for a single unit after shipping - with ground shipping I ordered it mon afternoon, it was here wed (they might just be close to me in mich). Very helpful staff (much better than getting it from taiwan).
Sound volume
I booted this distro on my ebox 2300, and it worked great (did a pxelinux net boot) except for one thing. My problem was I could not adjust the audio level, none of the mixers would work. How does one adjust the gain? I know there's no alsa support, only oss. I just want to have sound with mpg123.
When I ran mpg123 and it wouldn't allow me to change the volume, it gave an error that basically said that this feature is not accessible on this card when I passed the -g <value> option.
Is it possible to adjust the gain somehow, the default output when I run mpg123 is very low, like -45 dB or so.

Re: Sound volume
You can either click on the taskbar volume applet (the speaker icon) or type in a terminal:lm317t wrote:How does one adjust the gain?
setvol 0 80 80
to set the volume to 80% in both audio channels (for example).

ebox2300 End Of Life?
I just ordered more eboxes, looks like they're eol as of 12/07/2007. Unfortunately there's nothing comparable to replace it, the 2300sx is no good because it has no Floating Point or audio. The 3800 costs more than 2x as much.
Anyone have any more info on this?

I have a site with a few hundred GTK-1.2 apps. The only thing I ever use that is not GTK-1.2 is the opera browser -just cause I'm spoiled from using it.

Re: ebox2300 End Of Life?
Not much more info, but I can say that WDLSystems told my company the same thing. Due to hue and cry from all and sundry, the Last Order date *may* have been pushed back to February 28, 2008.lm317t wrote:I just ordered more eboxes, looks like they're eol as of 12/07/2007. A supplier in the UK offers what looks to be a very similar device, the Aleutia E1. See The Aleutia Web Site. The case and specifications are identical to the eBox 2300 - it's hard to believe the units aren't actually one and the same - but the EOL date is stated to be 2010. The price seems a little steep, though.
Peace.
I can confirm that the last time buy date has been pushed out to February 28, 2008. This is the final date that distributors and resellers can place orders for this model, but the channel should be able to supply end users with small quantities for several months after this date. I don't have anything official on why it has been discontinued, but I suspect that lack of RoHS compliance plays a big part in this.
