What wireless card is in Northtec MicroClient Jr?

#1 Post by patc890 »

Hi,

I have a Northtec, MicroClient Jr.

http://www.norhtec.com/

Can anyone tell me what the wireless card is in this thing? Or what driver, modules I need to use it with Puppy Linux?

Thanks.

Pat.

Wireless card/Driver?

#3 Post by patc890 »

Thanks for the link. That helped some...

Now when I run the WAG wireless access gadget I get

wireless card active
wireless card responding

no module loaded
dhcpd not running
wifi-beta not installed

could not find interface in /proc/net/wireless
ap test failure

no wireless networks detected
error when scanning

Any ideas about this? I seen mentions of getting wifi-beta2.pup but haven't been able to find it.

Thanks.

No built-in wireless; try searching for the chip

#4 Post by raffy »

As that miniPC has no built-in wireless device, your problem is really more about the wireless device you're using. Please give its details here, and please look first in the sticky in the beginner's section - it should contain links to installing wireless devices in Puppy. Or try to do a search here for the wireless chip that you have. Thanks.

What wireless card is in Northtec MicroClient Jr?

Hi,

Actually this PC does have a built in wireless device?

It has an antenna like a linksys wireless router so that is why I was asking.
I can't find any specs on the PC.

Now looking at the web site

http://www.norhtec.com/products/mcjr/index.html

It looks like there is a place for one. When my friend bought it there was one in it? I'll have to see if I can find out anything about it.

Special build

It must have been a special order/build - you have to know the wireless chip.

Anyway, here is the link for the usual drivers (sources only): http://vortex86.com/os-linux.htm . You may be able to find something in that site.

I've posted some info on the MicroClient Jr/TU-40/eBox-2300, that includes details and a driver for the wireless option, here:
