For those of you not already running Linux, I've made a DOS/Win self-extracting archive containing a batch file that will automatically create a WakePup floppy boot disk.

Just download WKPUP11C.EXE to a temp directory and execute the file. After the files have been extracted, execute MAKEDISK.BAT and follow the on-screen instructions.

Have fun!

PS You no longer need to create the files PUPXIDE and PUPXUSB. They are on the floppy. Just copy the one that is needed to the drive that has the IMAGE.GZ, VMLINUZ and USR_CRAM.FS files on it. Then boot with WAKEPUP!

Any feedback on WakePup and this archive is welcome Smile

NEW VERSION: WakePup 1.1c uploaded 26 Nov '05.
For more details, see page http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=3875

IMPORTANT ADDITION: The program doesn't allow me to upload an .EXE file, so I have added an extra .ZIP to the file. Please remove the .ZIP after downloading.

After I download the file wakepup.exe.zip and try to unzip it all my zip programs (cam unzip, Zip Genius, and windows zip viewer) say that it's an invalid archive file.

it says that it is not a zip file, it is an exe file
it says to rename the file from WAKEPUP.EXE.ZIP to WAKEPUP.EXE

It still load the usr_cram.fs from CD,but mine is on C:\,so I can't enter X.

I have put the PUPXIDE to C:\.And C: is a vfat drive.

Hey all

I tried wakepup... still no joy. Cant get puppy to run any which way on any of these machines. I tried the wakepup flop on an intel 350MHz 64M RAM pc with an IDE CDROM on an old soundcard, reason being the onboard IDE adaptor is fried. I want to make this PC useful, and pup looks great at first sight, but I've never yet got it going, depsite 4 machines so far.

Would appreciate any clue!

I have serious use for a whole loada machines if this dog can be got to breathe, but so far, nothing. Nearest I came was a 433 celeron 128M RAM which ran the CD, but wouldnt get any further than the Xvesa/Xorg screen. Turns out it had intel 810 video, so i put another vid card on, and now it wont even get to that choice screen.

So far my intro to linux hasnt been too favourable I guess.

Turned out the new card had a video ram problem, so I went back to the 810 card. I've decided to go with DSL for now, as pup wont function on any of these machines. I hope that changes in future, as pup looks like the package I really wanted.

Have fun
