I have fixed a couple of issues that remained with attachments and e-mails since the upgrade. I THINK it is all fixed, but if you see anything else that's wrong PLEASE report it in this thread.

I'm seeing two things that are problematic -
1. The problem that MU reported (here) about "posts since last visit" also happens for me, but inconsistently
2. However many times I tell hotmail that "johnatmurgadotorg" is NOT spam and add it to my safe list it keeps being marked as spam ... i will report this to M$oft but maybe you need also to check if you're on a blacklist?

I think I may have just fixed the first problem (more dumb defaults).

As for the second one I don't see there is much I can do ... I am on no blacklist that I know of.

And now for a bit of a jerk-y comment (half joke, half true) ... It is a little hard for me to have sympathy for people using M$oft hotmail when there are so many better alternatives out there Wink

Cheers

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, because the forum is a pleasure Very Happy to use these days, but it still doesn't automatically log me on, even though I have several times clicked the option.

I suggest:

i) Fix it if it's easily fixable.

ii) Disable the option if it isn't easily fixable.

iii) Do nothing because it may only be a few people with the problem.

iv) Do nothing because it's a bit trivial.

iii) and iv) are OK by me....

Hmmm...it works fine for me. Maybe it's your cookies? The url changed, so if your cookie settings need to be manually set to accept things, they'd need to be adjusted.

it's ok, i'm not asking for sympathy ... "better" implies doing something more effectively, but the Evil One's service offers me all I need ... and I sup with a long spoon

I was being an "arse" anyway Smile

I would like to know why it happens.

Paulh177, have you updated the forum's URL from murga.org to murga-linux.com... in your hotmail safe list?

Very Happy
ok John no problem!

@Flash - hmmm interesting, it certainly contains murga.org but then that's where the emails are purporting to come from (including in the headers) but I'll try adding the new one anyhoo
thanks
Paul

So people have been confirm that the e-mail links are not a problem any more and attachments are working.

Autologin works for me, how about everyone else ?

The posts since last visit ? I think it works now like it did before ?

Anything else ??

Cheers

Hi John, it is good to see the forum is fixed up now! Smile

I notice the new forum software provides "subject description" for threads, under the subject. I'm not so sure this is an improvement. At least to my eyes, I can no longer scan quickly through the threads to see any new ones; the extra black text gets in the way of it. It becomes tedious to look through the threads.

I suggest getting rid of this feature, if you agree. Just because a feature is provided, doesn't mean one should use it.

If you are looking for trifling quibbles: when calling up "View posts since last visit," several times it has given me a blank third page (regular column-titles header bar with main body contents: "There are no posts in this forum") when in fact there were only enough new posts to fill two pages, rather than the three indicated. Hardly a dealbreaker, just a craftsmanship rough edge.

Auto-login works on my end too. I think the forum defaults to showing unread posts orange rather than new posts, but I believe there is a personal setting to change that. Even better would be another color for new posts, so you could see which are new and which you just haven't read yet.

John,
I'm not using autologin. I manually login and logout, like I've always done.
Problem is, it is now not remembering and the "view unread posts" thing
is growing bigger each time I log in.
I logged in a few hours ago, it was 160 unread. Logged out. Just
logged in now and I have 166 unread.
